Goonies showing today 2/12 in SF

Sorry for the late posting about this, but Goonies is being shown at a small theater in SF tonight at 8 PM:

http://darkroomsf.com/BMN/BMN.htm

It's in their "Bad Movie Sunday" series, but still, even though it's not a bad movie it's a chance to see Goonies on a big screen. Or a screen that's slightly bigger than your TV. We should all go as our favorite Goonie. I have been planning on going for a while, but my back is killing me today so we'll see how I feel after yoga and by 8 PM if I can walk over there. Goonies never die!

Are you embarassed to admit that you love/like this movie?

I could care less... I love this movie and have ever since I saw it in the theater so very long ago. I AM embarassed to say how many times I have seen it and in reality how many hours of my life have been wasted on something that I have already seen.

Bloopers

The goonies.com site used to have a list of bloopers in the movie, but the link doesn't work anymore, so I thought it would be fun to post the bloopers you found.

The three I always notice are:
1) Although the map was originally written in Spanish, the translation rhymes perfectly in English (this one was on the goonies.com list)

2) When Mikey and Brand are on the porch of their house talking there are a bunch of leaves falling in the background, and then in the next scene when they're riding away on their bikes and the camera pulls up from overhead above the house there are no trees in the yard or anywhere near the porch. (this one wasn't on the goonies.com list)

3) If those painstaking years of piano lessons taught me anything, it's that the notes Andy was trying to decide between for the last note to play on the organ are the same note. (can't remember if goonies.com had this one or not)

I remember another one from the goonies.com list was how at the end when Mr. Walsh tears up the deed and throws it in the air there are a bunch of extra papers thrown in that one deed's worth of paper couldn't make.

And finally, check out this cast reunion photo:

But I thought it would be nice to have some more pics. on file for this tribe. Soooo...I spent way too much time tracking down and adding some pictures to the tribe photos. (23 of them, to be exact.) I would have done more, but I was getting a bit tired.

Hope you enjoy them.

Goonies the DVD

I just watched the DVD. OMG! It was the best commentary I have ever seen. At the beginning of it they had in studio almost all the main characters: Ke Huy Quan (Data), Corey Feldman (Mouth), Sean Astin (Mikey), the Director, Kelly Green, Martha Plimpton, Jeff Cohen (Chunk), and Josh Brolin (Brand). They started talking about the movie as it was in small screen in the lower left hand section of the screen. After they talked for a while, the screen enlarged and it was like watching a normal commentary. About 4 to 6 more times throughout the movie, they shrunk the screen again and you could see the actors again talking about the movie. About 1/3 of the way through the movie, Sean Astin had left and it was just the rest of them. They never explained where he went.

IT WAS THE COOLEST COMMENTARY I HAVE EVER SEEN ON A MOVIE DVD!

What did you all think of it?

Corey Feldman Wants You

It's here. A tribe dedicated to the fathomless talents of Corey Feldman. Do you want to explore the works of a modern genius? Do you want to compare and contrast early larval performances like Stand By Me to more mature works like Meatballs 4? Would you like to delve into the dark underbelly of Corey's psyche? Is there anything you'd like to know about how to make a straight to video release? Then this tribe is for you.

Was Anybody Else at Berkeley when Chunk ran for ASB President?

"Up there it's their time, it's their time up there...
Down here it's out time, it's our time down here...."
I was so in love with that little kid, Sean Austin.
But was anybody else at U.C. Berkeley when the guy who played Chunk (can't remember his real name) was going there and ran for ASB President solely on the platform "Vote Chunk"?
I heard he handed out lolly pops and he won.
I also heard he had slimmed down and was quite a stud by then too.
Not much of a platform, but I guess we were all suckers for one of the best adolescent coming of age movies of our time. Ha

What's your favorite version?

Version... are there other versions?!?

Yes, there's the original theatrical version, the alternate TV version, and my non-exsistent fantasy version that would be the TV version minus the octopus scene but it would include the convenience store scene where the map gets set on fire. This fantasy version would be my pick if it exsisted but until then I'll have to say the original theatrical release.

So... what's you're favortite version? ...let me know of any versions I didn't list.
